Crab Fit compared with Autoki
Crab Fit starts on the homepage: an optional name, dates you drag, and a time zone. Results are a live heatmap. Autoki is a separate free poll with yes, maybe, and no, and it does not update the heatmap live.
Written from public pages as of October 2026. Numbers and plans change, so open the sources below before you decide. Anything we could not verify is left out.
Side by side
| Topic | Autoki | Crab Fit |
|---|---|---|
| Account to create | Not required. There is no sign-up and no login. | The homepage form does not ask you to sign up. The name can be left blank and one is generated. You click and drag dates, or switch to days of the week, then drag a time range and pick a time zone.Crab Fit |
| Account to answer | Not required. Someone enters a display name and marks times. | The homepage says you send the link and people enter availability. It does not say whether answering requires an account.Crab Fit |
| How people answer | Tap a date-and-time cell. It cycles empty → yes → maybe → empty (no). It is not a drag-to-paint grid. | Results update live as a heatmap of when everyone is free (homepage). On 24 October 2026 that page showed 229,907 events created and 928,673 availabilities entered. Those totals change.Crab Fit |
| Time zones | Each person answers in their own time zone. The results page can show the same grid in another zone. | The create form asks you to select a time zone. It does not say that each guest automatically sees their own zone.Crab Fit |
| Price | Free. There is no paid plan. | The homepage asks for donations “so Crab Fit can stay free for everyone.” It does not list a paid plan on that page.Crab Fit |
| After a time is chosen | The organizer can confirm a time on the results page. Confirming does not email anyone. That time can be opened in Google Calendar or downloaded as an .ics file. | Events are deleted after 3 months of inactivity, and passwords are hashed (homepage). It does not describe a calendar invite. There is a link to an Android app and to the source repository.Crab FitSource repository |
When to pick Crab Fit
You want the create form on the first screen, a name that can stay blank, drag to choose dates or whole weekdays, and a heatmap that updates live.
You are fine with events being deleted after 3 months of inactivity, and with an optional donation. The code is open source. The homepage also links to an Android app; this page does not describe what that app does.
When to pick Autoki
You want explicit yes, maybe, and no on each cell, a per-person table, and each guest answering in their own time zone. The heatmap is what you see when the results page is opened. It does not refresh live.
You do not want the event removed after three quiet months. This app’s code does not delete events for inactivity. You confirm a time yourself and add it to Google Calendar or download an .ics file. Nobody is emailed.
